ERP 2013 statement

On the 30th March 2011 EU Commission Regulation 327/2011 came into effect with a start date of 1st January 2013 for tier one and 1st January 2015 for tier two. This regulation implements Directive 2009/125/EC with regard to the ecodesign requirements for fans driven by motors with an electric input power between 125W and 500kW.

Regulation 327/2011 dictates that all motor and impeller (fan) sets above 125 watts must comply with stringent minimum efficiency levels dependant on the impeller type. The regulation applies to all fan types and their applications whether the unit is integrated into a simple box fan or a more complex air handling unit (or indeed most other applications).

As a reputable high quality manufacturer of ventilation products, you can be assured that Vent-Axia has been closely involved with the development of this regulation through our contacts within the relevant trade associations. We have also spent considerable time and resources with our supply chain partners to ensure that all Vent-Axia ventilation products will only utilise fans that comply with these regulations from 1st January 2013. This intensive work is continuing to ensure that, as of 1st January 2015, all our products will again meet the more stringent second tier of the 327/2011 regulation and must display additional data that is part of the compliance. Fans manufactured prior to the introduction of the regulation will still have a CE marking but the additional data that is required by the regulation will not be shown.

From 1st January 2013, to identify if a product is compliant it will simply be a case of checking for the CE symbol on the product and the manufacturing date. It is a requirement of the CE marking regulations that, when manufactured, the fan unit must comply with this latest regulation.

It should be noted that there are a few exceptions to this regulation for specialised applications such as fire safety (high temperature), fume handling and ATEX rated products.

Finally, this regulation has the benefit to the end users that by purchasing only CE marked products you can be assured that the product purchased complies with a minimum level of efficiency and will help in reducing energy usage within the UK (and Europe).
